"You've got to fight for your right..."

OMG! It's the Style News with

"TO HELP CURE CANCER"

That's right...another surprise Cancer victim is Adam Yauch of the Beastie Boys whom we all grew up with and who we all are praying for with his battle for beating cancer. One of the bad boys from the Beasties whom I was excited to see in NYC this late summer has cancelled all tour dates due to his health and surgery. My wishes go out to him, his family & the group! Stay Strong Adam! You will beat this!

Cancer has touched my life in such a way that people as close as my best friends son, my 23 year old friend and other close friends that are affected way too often and sudden. During the past several years I have helped in many ways from donating my time, being on host committees and event planning for Cancer events such as “Jeans, Jewels and Jazz “ for the Cancer Caring Institute.

One event is coming up this Thursday July 30th 2009 @ The Firehouse Lounge in the Strip, Pittsburgh PA from 6-9 pm for The Stimmel Family whose son I was speaking about previously called, “Where there’s a Will”. His name is Will Stimmel and he is 4 years old and has been going through Chemo since October of 2008. He has a genetic disease called Neurofibromatosis which is a tumor on his optic nerve that cannot be operated on. This event is to promote public awareness and to raise funds for the local NF chapter.

"It is said that there are millions of cancerous cells growing within everyone of daily, but our immune system attacks and destroys them. When the immune system is compromised, cancer takes off. Cancer is the result of an immune system dysfunction."

Let’s ask Bonics!

RL: So how do you feel about the news of Adam Yauch having Cancer?

B: Pretty Crazy although i haven't really read into it except for that he made a video to disclose it to his fans.... And i also read that he said it was very curable. I mean it sucks for any person to go through that especially someone who played suck influential roles in music to have to go through something like that. It makes you realize that they are human.

RL: What is your favorite Beasties song?

B: Probably Get It Together or Root Down

RL: Most fashionable Beasties video?

B: Sabotage of course or no sleep till Brooklyn

RL: Most fashionable item of the Beasties that your wardrobe relates to today?

B: I don't think one thing really relates.. just the whole style... they do and wear what they want. They never really pimp labels or anything.. Just more of a relaxed style that anyone can adopt..

Where would the Beastie Boys Shop if they came to Pittsburgh? Their style has always been "simplistic, laid back LA freestyle jive" to me. Rocking the adidas to the dunk's to the most comfortable track suits, the guys always had a "easy street" way to their threads. They would shop in South Side for sure @ Shop 412, Decade, Puma, Urban Outfitters and OneUp Skate Shop. In East Liberty-Timebomb for sure.

In honor of Adam Yauch of the Beastie Boys, lets relive some great fashion of their era…
